Curiously Steeped: Kid's Tea Blending Workshop

Blending your own tea sounds scary but shouldn't be! This workshop will guide kids aged 8-12 in blending their own tea blends- with enough information to do it on their own at home! We'll have fun learning concepts like organoleptics, to how to formulate with classic herbal pairs. We'll make sure they leave with the knowledge of how to steep the best cup of tea. Participants will leave with a jar of their own loose leaf tea and tools for building their own tea recipe book.

Tincture Making Workshop

Take your herbal medicine making to the next level! Tinctures are liquid extracts made with alcohol and water to extract the medicinal properties of herbs. They are a convenient and effective way of taking herbal medicine. In this informative class we will make a dried plant tincture that you can take home to strain and use. Liz will also discuss and demonstrate other methods to make fresh and dried plant tinctures. You will leave this class with all the information you need to make your own tinctures!

We'll reinforce knees & elbows, add beauty to collars & hems, and enjoy the slow, meditative stitching of Sashiko. A Japanese textile tradition, Sashiko’s repetitive, simple stitching is both beautiful to wear & meditative to make. It provides strength, warmth, & decoration to worn & torn clothing. Bring something that’s in need of repair. Non-stretchy fabric is best-denim, cotton, or linen. Each participant will go home with new skills AND a small, portable mending kit to keep the fun going at home

Together we will recreate some of these recipes in class to sample.

Each participant will walk away from class with three different products to add to their kitchen shelf. All materials will be provided.
